Why your glasswasher leaves glasses cloudy, and how to fix it

Cloudy glasses put customers off and usually have one of four causes. Most can be put right on one visit.

Hard water and the softener

Essex has very hard water. Without a working softener, limescale films the glasses and coats the elements. Check the salt is topped up and the softener is regenerating.

Too much or too little rinse aid

Too little leaves water marks, too much leaves a greasy smear. The dosing pump needs setting for your water.

Dirty water and filters

Drain and refill the tank at least once a day, and clean the filters and wash arms. Old water redeposits dirt on the glasses.

Not reaching temperature

If the element is scaled up or failing, the water doesn’t get hot enough and glasses don’t come out clean or dry. That’s a job for us.

When to call us

If the glasses are still cloudy after a fresh tank, clean filters and correct salt, call us. We check the softener, dosing and heating together and set the machine up properly.
